If you love to grill, you've likely heard about the Big Green Egg smoker. It is a ceramic barbeque grill you can use as a barbeque grill, smoker and also an outdoor oven. There are plenty of other differences however one of my favorites may be the number of fans the big green egg cooker has. You'll find Egg fans and gatherings throughout the U.S., and Eggheads are always eager to share their stories, advice as well as recipes at events and on the Egghead forum. I can't think of any other grill that has such a following.

I will admit, the Egg does have some drawbacks in comparison with other grills. For instance, it's not a cheap bbq grill. You should expect to pay around $700 for the large Big Green Egg. Additionally, you need to use lump wood charcoal, which isn't always easy to find and can be quite a bit more pricey in comparison with traditional charcoal briquettes. The Big Green Egg also has a smaller cooking area compared to many gas grills, which means you'll need a backup bbq grill when entertaining many people.

Even so, the flexibility of the Big Green Egg, the ability to grill, smoke or bake with your Egg, and the awesome results you will get (the Egg can be quite forgiving, even for novice grillers) are worth the purchase price. If you're a barbeque fanatic and you do a good deal of smoking in addition to barbecuing you will appreciate the quality and the results you get while using the Big Green Egg.
